The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) have developed a free secure online facility for you, as a fleet operator, to view the information held on all vehicles registered in your fleet. You can;

  • check when your vehicles need to be taxed
  • check when they need to have an MOT test or hold a current MOT
  • check other vehicle information that is published on the Vehicle Registration Certificate (V5C) such as the make, the model and the colour of these vehicles.

Access to the service

DVLA will provide users with IDs and passwords to access this service. We will use these to verify your identity before we give you access to your fleet. If we cannot verify your identity you will not be able to access the service.

If you forget your password you can request to change it on the log-in page. This page will prompt for your ID and fleet number. Entering a new password will update your log-in information on our data base.

You should only attempt to access this service if you are authorised to do so. It is an offence under Data Protection Legislation to knowingly or recklessly obtain, disclose or procure the disclosure of personal data without the formal written approval of the data controller (DVLA).

When you use this service to download, print or extract information by any other means any of the information you are the data controller and must safeguard it.

Only authorised DVLA staff will share access to the information to deal with customer queries and provide technical support.

Accuracy and correction of vehicle information

DVLA will take all reasonable steps in accordance with legal obligations to update or correct information held on your vehicle records. If the details shown on your vehicle records are out of date or incorrect you have a legal obligation to inform us by either returning your V5C or emailing DVLA via the service, using the link provided.

Security

The DVLA is the Data Controller for the purpose of Data Protection Legislation. You can only use this service to view information held on vehicles in your fleet. You cannot use this site to communicate with other users or to post information.

The DVLA takes all reasonable steps to protect the personal data available via this service in accordance with Data Protection Legislation.

Unlawfully obtaining or accessing personal data is a criminal offence under Data Protection Legislation. As data controller, registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, the Department for Transport will investigate any abuse of this service.

Data is held in a secure environment that meets industry and Government security standards.

A number of security features are in place to protect your information during transit from your computer to the service. However, transmitting data over the internet is generally not completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of your data.

Monitoring use of the service

DVLA will keep an audit trail of when you access your vehicle licence information and will monitor your use of the service. This is to help prevent and detect unauthorised access.

If you believe DVLA has not met its obligations under Data Protection Legislation as part of this service please contact our Customer Complaints Resolution Team on CCRT@dvla.gov.uk.
